The Pella City Council is holding their regular meeting today due to Tuesday’s general election.

Council will review a resolution approving a 28E Agreement amendment with Marion County to reduce the City of Pella’s extraterritorial zoning review area from two miles to one mile outside of the corporate limits. Two public hearings will be held for ordinances that would amend the official zoning map and various sections of the zoning code to accommodate the changes. If approved, city staff believes this would simplify administration of zoning laws for both the city and county, and allow the Pella City Council to focus on likely areas to develop in the future.

A resolution for a 28E agreement for Mahaska County for road improvements to 250th Avenue south of the Highway 163 interchange for the Lely North America development, and amendments to the the Lely tax increment financing and South Main development tax increment financing ordinances are also on the agenda. Following regular business, the council will go into closed session to discuss marketing and pricing strategies for a city utility.

The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex, and is available electronically:
