An organ recital titled “Music Celebrating Autumn and its Events” will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville today. This is the first recital in a series by Professor Davis Folkerts. A lifelong musician, Folkerts graduated from Central College as an organ performance major. He earned a doctorate degree while spending time as a professor at Central, and is now showcasing his talents in Knoxville. Folkerts says each recital will feature seasonal selections, beginning with an autumn and Thanksgiving theme in November.
“That will be a recital with music having to do with the fall, autumn themes. We include Reformation, and of course Thanksgiving. So it’s easy to find a lot of seasonal music for this time of year.”
Today’s performance begins at noon. The next recital is scheduled for December 3rd.
