A Knoxville man has been arrested following a single vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon. 30-year-old Ryan Vincent Riccardo was found sitting on the side of the road on the Highway 92/5 eastbound off ramp to Highway 5/Attica Road at approximately 2:11 p.m.
After Riccardo was cleared of any injuries, a deputy observed a strong odor of alcohol, prompting sobriety tests. Riccardo showed numerous signs of impairment. He refused a breathalyzer test, and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Riccardo resisted arrest, causing a hand injury to one of the officers.
Riccardo was eventually taken into custody, with bond set at $5,000. He faces felony charges of third offense OWI, as well as failure to maintain control, driving under suspension, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury.
