This year’s Knoxville High School Homecoming fundraiser was altered due to COVID-19. Instead of the traditional can collection, the Student Senate decided on a “Your Change Has Weight” challenge.
Each grade was challenged to bring in as much change as possible to be donated to Helping Hands. The class of 2021 brought in the most change with over 115 pounds. Among all students, the school raised 211 pounds of coins. This totaled just under $1,600, which was donated to Helping Hands. With that money, Helping Hands will be able to purchase over 11,000 pounds of food this holiday season.
