It may not feel like it just yet, but winter is around the corner, and the National Weather Service reminds residents to be ready for the various hazards that come with colder air in the region.

Meteorologist Jeff Zogg says while many residents in the state have already had their first inch of snow, it doesn’t hurt to be ready for the first major snow storm or burst of wind chill in the air. He says the best way to be ready in case of an emergency while traveling is to have a preparedness kit in a vehicle in case of an accident or breakdown during a winter storm or wind chill event.
