The Pella and Knoxville Hy-Vee stores were still able to serve free breakfast to veterans and service members, although 2020 made it a different experience. Regional Store Director Derek Sparks says 340 meals were served in Pella and 275 in Knoxville, which was a bit down from the in-person events they’ve held in years’ past. However, he believes having the option at all was still appreciated. Both the Pella and Knoxville Hy-Vee stores are partnering with KNIA/KRLS to support area food shelves during the holiday season, with Big Red Radio events coming up soon, as well as a special dinner next Thursday, November 19th, with some of the profits going to support the Pella Community Food Shelf and Helping Hands in Knoxville.
