Pella Corporation announced Thursday that it will assist in the transition of De Kinderen Huis and PRC Health and Fitness operations to new management effective December 1st. The buildings at 308 SE 9 th Street were purchased by an entity associated with Pella Corporation in
January of 2020, and the current operator, Josh Visser, has worked in a transition plan for the facility operations.
“The unique challenges of 2020 have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the businesses and drive profitability,” said Josh Visser, current owner of PRC and De Kinderen Huis. “But, the need for these facilities still remains. It was important to me that they remain intact for the families they serve and I’m confident this transition will allow for that to happen.”
Pella Corporation has helped enlist New Horizon Academy (NHA), a nationally accredited and privately held family business focused on providing childcare in the Midwest region, which will operate the daycare. In addition, there are plans to invest in a remodel of the building during the first half of 2021 to expand the childcare capacity to 182 children, with the ability to grow to 210 in the future.
“As the community continues to grow the need for childcare is projected to increase as well,” said Nicolle Picray, Public Relation and Brand Communications Manager for Pella Corporation. “The availability of quality childcare options is crucial in helping Pella remain a great place to live and work.”
Plans for operations of the fitness facility are still underway, with the goal being to continue offering this amenity to the community. Details regarding the fitness facility will be shared as they become available.
