The race for U.S. House District 2 remains undecided over a week after the general election. With all precincts reporting and votes canvassed, Democrat Rita Hart’s campaign is officially requesting a full recount of the entire district.
Errors were reported throughout the counting process in Jasper and Lucas counties. As it currently stands, Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks leads with 196,862 votes to Hart’s 196,815 votes, a difference of 47 votes. Iowa law states that counties have 18 days to conduct the recount after votes have been canvassed.
