The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will be different this season, but a lot of it will be the same as last season. The one glaring difference is the Panthers will no longer have the services of Katie Keitges, arguably the greatest player in program history, who graduated last year and is now playing at the University of Omaha. However, the Panthers will still be very experienced with Third Team All-State player Maggie Wilkins back for her senior season, plus two other seniors in Marley McKay and Tara Uitermarkt and sophomore Emma Dunkin back for another season. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KRLS Sports trying to make up for the loss of 23 points per game will take a total team effort.
Uitermarkt:
“We just want everybody to do a little more. If everybody can do a little more, we can approach the lost points we had with Kaite, and some of the girls are excited about that.”
Wilkins also averaged 23 points per game last season for the 20-3 Panthers. Uitermarkt adds practices have been very interesting this season to see how the girls develop into their new roles. Knoxville is scheduled to open the season on November 24th at PCM.
