Central College worked to recognize Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week on campus Thursday. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was at Central, and 92.1 KRLS featured interviews with many individuals at campus at Fred’s.

Assistant Dean of Students Kristi Leonard says it’s the Season of Gratitude at Central, which is part of a wellness initiative on campus to promote the importance of helping others and to bring peace and joy to individuals.

Among those events was the KNIA/KRLS Food Drive, as donations were collected in the Lil’ Big Red Radio. There’s also a 21 days of gratitude challenge, which Leonard says has been an effort through the Central app and daily announcement to encourage students to do something small each day to show thanks. Leonard says students have also been writing letters to active service members and have been participating in other service projects.

The KNIA/KRLS Food Drive continues with events at the Knoxville and Pella Hy-Vee stores. Make monetary donations by click here.
