The City of Indianola Brush Facility is scheduled to shut down this weekend for the winter, however city staff has authorization from the Indianola City Council to extend the schedule if the community requires its services. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News due to city facilities being closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, if the facility is reopened services will be changed.

“Because of COVID, what we would do if we extended for an additional weekend we would have it just be leaves drop-off only. Anything with brush requires the exchanging of money, and with COVID-19 rates on the rise we will just open it up for the free drop off of leaves. Just for safety purposes, but also to make sure we are maintaining a level of service. And when you look around, most of the yard waste you see is leaves on the ground.”

Waller also said the city will be monitoring calls from residents about the brush facility, which will be how they determine if the facility will be open an additional weekend after the Thanksgiving holiday.
