Governor Reynolds’ recent proclamation on group gatherings limits spectators at high school extracurricular activities to two per participant. Knoxville High School Activities Director Ryan Paulsen explains that Knoxville will use a shared document to determine who is able to attend, and encourages everyone to remain flexible in these uncertain times.
“We’re going the digital route, where we basically share a document that can be edited with the opposing school or schools if it’s a multi-team event. We’ll print that off before the gate opens and we’ll check people off as they come in. Other schools are printing actual cards and sending them to schools, kids have to get those to parents or whoever. Every school is going to do it a little differently. That’s just part of being flexible and adapting. These are the times that we live in, and if we want to have sports and activities during this time, this is just one of the things that we’ve got to be able to do.”
This protocol will remain in effect through at least December 10th. While middle school sports are paused, the district is seeking clarification as to whether those sports can continue practicing if done in a distant manner.
