At Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting, the purchase of a new police canine and the necessary equipment was approved. Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams says that the community’s support paid off, and it gives the city and police department a head start before the canine arrives.

“You have to have a specific vehicle and specific equipment to make sure that the dog and the handler will be safe as they are out on patrol. Just a huge response, and something our community can be very proud of. For a city manager, it’s just one of those stories that you love to hear and be a part of. Of course you can’t say it enough, but thank you to all those folks who have participated and been a part of helping us to do this.”

The purchase and outfitting of the vehicle will take place soon. Roscoe is scheduled to arrive in Knoxville and begin services in spring 2021.
