Pella Christian aims to play the role of spoiler when they hit the road to begin their winter girls basketball journey, as they hit the road to perennial Class 1A power Montezuma.
The Eagles will travel to face the preseason No. 6 in 1A Bravettes, who have been at the state tournament each of the past three seasons.
Head Coach Brad Engbers says despite the graduation of now Iowa Hawkeye and All-State star Shateah Wetering, Montezuma has many returning players from their recent trips to Wells Fargo Arena that look to keep the tradition of excellence going — and he’s excited to see how the Eagles respond to the challenge.
Pella Christian will lean on returning All-Conference first team member Allison Van Gorp, and 2019-20 varsity members Emma Witzenburg, Anna Bonnett, Avery Baugh, and Emri to improve this winter’s Eagles squad.
The varsity game for the Pella Christian girls will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Montezuma High School.
