Knoxville Raceway announced last week it will host a NASCAR National Touring Truck Series event on Friday, July 9, 2021. The event will take place on the eve of the Corn Belt Clash, formerly the Corn Belt Nationals, non-winged sprint car race which will move to Saturday, July 10.
Marketing Director Kendra Jacobs says it’s a major honor to be recognized by NASCAR and be trusted by the organization to host one of their races.
“It’s flattering. It shows that the hard work that we’ve put into this track and this facility is being recognized by the top level of motorsports in the country. To have them have faith in us and say ‘We know you guys can do this, we know you’re going to put on a great race,’ that means a lot to us. Another thing we’ve talked about with NASCAR is the atmosphere around our races and the atmosphere they’ve heard about from the Knoxville Nationals and looking forward to seeing that. That’s a testament to this town. The town of Knoxville is so incredible, and they’re so supportive of racing and the race fans that come into town. That is something NASCAR has heard about for many years. So without us really putting it out there, it’s gotten a lot of popularity, how welcoming the town of Knoxville is.”
