The Indianola girls basketball team started their season on the road at Des Moines Christian Tuesday evening, falling in the road contest to the #1 in class 3A Lions 55-44. The Indians trailed at the end of the first 13-11, then struggled shooting in the second quarter to trail 32-22 at the halftime break. The Indians got the lead down to five in the third, but the hot-shooting Lions kept the deficit large. With less than four minutes to go in the fourth, the Indians cut the lead down to eight, but couldn’t get any closer than that and lost by 11. Lauren Blake led the Indians with 15 points, while Kendall Clatt scored 11. The Indians fall to 0-1 on the season, and will next play Monday at North Polk, which can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA.
