The Mustangs fell just short of their championship aspirations following their semifinal loss to Waukon, but six of their own were named to the Class 2A All-State teams.
Receiving First Team honors were offensive lineman Greyson Strum and defensive back Justin Maggard. The latter was on an island for PCM all year and even opened the scoring for PCM during their playoff run to the dome with a pick six against Saydel just 18 seconds into the game.
Receiving Second Team Honors were linebacker Andrew Mitchell and punter Brayden Berger. Mitchell forced plenty of turnovers for the Mustangs this year, even having a pick six of his own in that same playoff game against Saydel.
Receiving Third Team Honors were offensive lineman Caleb Duinink and running back Aiden Anderson. Anderson could have very easily been ranked higher had it not been for a fractured ankle sustained in week 5 against Centerville, though he did score in that game like he often does for the Mustangs.
Anderson will be the only one of the six returning to PCM in 2021, but with a stud junior-to-be quarterback in Augie Stock alongside him in the backfield, the Mustangs look like they’re in good shape for another deep run in the playoffs next year.
