The Knoxville School District will offer an early retirement package this year following approval at Monday night’s school board meeting. Business Manager Craig Mobley says that this package typically would be offered every three years, but the board thought it was necessary to give employees the opportunity to take advantage of this program due to current economic conditions as it relates to COVID-19.
“Due to a lot of the economic conditions, nationally and in the state of Iowa, going forward, it is very likely that this will be the last time that particular incentive package is offered. We’re giving all those eligible employees until January 6th to return their application. As of right now, the board is taking the first three certified staff that apply and the first four non-certified staff that apply.”
This package was approved at the most recent meeting after lengthy discussion at the previous meeting. View the complete details here.
