The City of Indianola has seen one of the largest growth of homes approved to be built for the next year, as 122 lots are ready to have houses built on them. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the growth has been the result of a prioritization from both the Indianola City Council and city staff.

“If you go back to previous years on that, we were averaging well under 50 lots per year. From 2012-15 we had 77 new lots, from 2016-19 we had 114 total. Just this year alone we are over 120 so that really good moving forward.”

Dissell also said there are approximately another hundred lots that can potentially be built on that are designated by the council for growth, but have not yet been planned by a developer.
