With Thanksgiving Break in the rearview mirror, the Knoxville School District is just under a month away from winter break and an uninterrupted first half of the school year. Superintendent Cassi Pearson is thankful for everyone’s efforts in making in-person classes and activities work during the pandemic.
“We are very thankful for many things, one of them is that we’re still in school. We started school on August 20th in a global pandemic. We are still in person and so grateful for that. Our staff have been amazing. They have learned so many new things, between how to do Zoom and Google Meet and teach online and have kids at home while they also have kids in the classroom. Due to the governor’s proclamation, kids had a choice if they had health conditions or other concerns, they could choose to learn at home this year. Our staff have truly done an amazing job of figuring out how to make it all work.”
All in-person activities are being allowed to continue, and the district continues to have relatively low absenteeism. Winter break begins December 23rd.
