The first doubleheader of the season for the Norwalk basketball teams is tonight when the Warriors head to Huxley to take on Ballard in non-conference action. Following a season-opening loss on the road to ADM, the Norwalk girls will look to clean up some early season miscues with an experienced group of players. The task doesn’t get any easier though, as Ballard comes in as the #3 team in Class 4A, and is off to a 2-0 start with two dominant road victories.
The new-look Norwalk boys will take to the court for the first time since winning last season’s Class 3A state title. They’ll be taking on a Bombers team with several key pieces back from last year’s state tournament team that Norwalk defeated in the semifinals. Head Coach Chris Larson says these teams have a long history against each other, and is looking forward to seeing what his team can accomplish out of the gate.
Tonight’s doubleheader will air live on 94.3 KNIA with Jon Mohwinkle and Steve Wermerskerchen calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m., with the opening tipoff of the girls game at 6:00.
