The Pella Christian girls look to continue their early season winning streak while the Eagles boys aim to regroup against a conference foe in a similar early season situation when they travel to Norwalk for Little Hawkeye Conference basketball this evening.

The Eagles girls knocked off No. 10 in 1A Montezuma and dominated Albia to get to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign, when they won their first five contests. Pella Christian will face a tough defensive test against a Norwalk team that held opponents to 44.6 points per game, which was the lowest among Little Hawkeye Conference opponents last year.

Meanwhile, the 0-1 Pella Christian boys return to the site of one of their best victories of the previous winter season, when they were one of just three teams to beat eventual Class 3A champions Norwalk on January 28th. Both rosters are vastly different from that game 10 months ago — the Warriors graduated their top three scorers, including Mr. Iowa Basketball Bowen Born, while the Eagles return only three varsity reserves from last year’s squad.

Coverage of the Pella Christian Eagles conference opening doubleheader at Norwalk begins at 5:45 this evening on 92.1 KRLS.
