Several local dancers were top finishers in the Iowa State Dance & Drill Team Association 2021 High School and College State Team and Solo Championships.


Pella Fortè placed 1st in Military and received a judge’s choice award, one of only six given across the entire state. Ella Jahner was a top three finisher as a soloist in Large School Color Guard and Bailey Knouse placed 9th in Class VII Solo Dance. Fortè placed third in Class X Pom and 4th in Class II Novelty.


Pleasantville won in the Class I Color Guard category with a score of 268 1/2. Taryn Brent of Pleasantville was the top performer in the Class II Dance category, winning a state title with a total score of 277. The Trojans also placed 2nd and earned a division I rating in Class V Pom and Class I novelty.


PCM won a state title in Class VII Pom. They ranked 2nd in Class IV Hip Hop and 2nd in Class II Novelty. Bess Telfer was a 10th place finalist in Class IV Dance as a soloist.


Knoxville received three top eight finishes and Division I ratings: 5th in Class XI Pom, 6th in Class II Novelty, and 8th in Class II Lyrical.


Indianola Impulse finished with three top eight finishes — 6th place in Class XI Pom and Class V Jazz and 8th place in Class III Lyrical.


Pella Christian Shine placed 6th in Class II Jazz and 10th in Class VI Pom.

Twin Cedars placed 5th in Class I Pom and 8th in Class I Hip Hop, both good for Division I scores.

Simpson College placed 1st in Division II/III College Pom and Hip Hop, and 2nd in Jazz.

Central College placed 1st in Division II/III Jazz and 2nd in Pom.
