The Pella Christian High School physics class launched a pico-balloon Tuesday morning with the help of the Pella Amateur Radio Club. This balloon is designed to stay at about 40,000 feet and travel around the world. It is equipped with a solar powered transmitter so students can track its journey in real time. The projected path takes it north to Greenland and then across southern Europe into Asia. The Pella Amateur Radio Club’s Pella Exploring Near Space project is funded by the Marion County Community Foundation and Pella Community Foundation.
