The Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Squad played tough but fell in a close contest to Murray on Friday night 35-33 while the boys were defeated by the Mustangs 56-38. The girls game was close throughout with neither team leading by more than six points. The Sabers led for most of the way but a 7-0 run by Murray to start the fourth quarter was the difference. Sabers Coach Trent Verwers told KRLS Sports it is a matter of finishing games.

Verwers:
“I told them that’s the difference from being an OK team to a pretty good team and I think we’re real close to being a pretty good team, but when you only score 6-7 points in the fourth quarter, that’s not going to cut it.”

Brooke Roby led the Sabers with 12 points. In the boys game, the Sabers led it get away in the third quarter when Murray went on a 14-2 run to start the second half. Coach Blake McWilliams told KRLS Sports his team got impatient and settled for three point shots that were not falling. Jace Nichols led the Sabers with 14 points. The girls fall to 2-3 while the boys are now 1-2. Both Saber squads will travel to Moulton-Udell on Tuesday.
