The Knoxville Girls basketball Squad outlasted Oskaloosa on Saturday 63-59 in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers had control early on, leading by as many as nine points, but the Indians stayed in the game with three point shooting making 12 from long range. Knoxville also found the range from outside as Maggie Wilkins drained two from distance to keep Knoxville ahead in the fourth quarter. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KRLS Sports he has been pleased with how his team responds to adjustments in game and at the half.
Uitermarkt:
“I love how this team is able to make adjustments. We’ve called timeouts and talked at halftime to talk about things we’ve not done before and these girls have been able to go out and make adjustments, and that’s something we talked about before the season. It shows these girls have a lot of fight in them.”
Wilkins led Knoxville with 31 points, her second consecutive 30 point game. Emma Dunkin chipped in 13 points as the Panthers ran their record to 3-0 and will host Clarke on Tuesday night to begin South Central Conference play.
