After sweeping their opponents in Thursday’s season opener, the Mustangs faced a good level of competition on Saturday placing sixth out of eight teams competing at DCG. Waverly-Shell Rock took the crown.

The event consisted of five rounds where one school competed against another points-wise. PCM went 2-3 in those matchups.

They started out by losing to Carroll 45-27 and the hosting school 60-18. They then knocked off Nevada 48-27 and ADM by the narrow margin of 42-39. Those were the two schools who placed worse than PCM. They finished with a loss against Oskaloosa 45-36.

Individually, Mustang wrestlers went 22-30 in matches that didn’t result in a forfeit. Colby Tool and Landon Fenton, both state participants in the past, were the only ones to go 5-0 on the day.

The Mustangs will be back in action Thursday at home for a meet also featuring Nevada, West Marshall and Woodward-Granger. Check back Friday on 92.1 KRLS and kniakrls.com for a recap of the event.
