The Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Emergency Management, Alliant Energy, Mid-American Energy and the Red Cross responded to the scene of a house fire in the 900 block of West Washington Street in Knoxville Friday afternoon.

Chief Cal Wyman tells KNIA/KRLS it appears someone left burning leaves unattended in the backyard, and the fire spread to the house. When crews arrived, they attacked the burning exterior while making sure everyone was out of the house. Crews then extinguished the inside portion of the fire, which had spread to the attic.

Damage is estimated at $25,000, and the house is currently uninhabitable.
