indianola-3

The Indianola boys basketball team is 1-2 to start the season, but despite the pair of losses the Indians have a lot of positives to look forward to having faced some state tournament contenders this early in the season. The Indians fell to #5 in class 3A Pella in overtime, and dropped a close contest Saturday to #3 in class 4A Council Bluffs Lincoln by just two points. Indians head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports playing two teams he expects to see make a run to play at Wells Fargo Arena can be a big positive for his squad if they can take advantage of it.

“Playing those teams we can see some of our weaknesses and focus on them. We are getting better at them, but it will just come down to varsity experience, getting the reps in practice, and seeing those guys who don’t have a lot of varsity experience getting it. We aren’t good enough yet, but we are going to keep battling.”

The Indians will continue to have their work cut out for them this Friday on the road at Pella Christian, a team receiving votes in the class 2A poll. Hear the game live on 94.3 KNIA.
