The Iowa Department of Public Health COVID-19 hospitalization data shows that statewide, residents who are above the age of 80 remain the highest risk to be hospitalized, and make up over a third of current hospitalizations due to the virus.
According to the IDPH, 34% of current hospitalizations are from those aged 80 or older, while 79% of hospitalizations are made up from patients who are 50 years of age or older, with only 7% for those aged 29 and under.
A peak of over 1,500 people hospitalized statewide occurred in mid-November with numbers steadily dropping since that mark, with the latest update showing 900 hospitalizations statewide.
Warren County is currently at 3,104 cases, the 19th most in the state.
