The Knoxville High School Music Department is preparing for a different kind of winter concert this year. Band Director Meredith Tipping tells KNIA/KRLS News that band and choir performances will be split this year to allow for more spectator spacing inside the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.

“We’re still proceeding with high school band and choir that evening. We’re doing separate concerts that evening to keep our audience numbers down a little bit. As of now, band is at 6:30 and choir is at 7:30. It’ll be jazz band, concert band, and both of the choirs as well. I know we’re waiting to see if the current guidance from our governor will continue in terms of two spectators per performer. We are also planning on streaming the concerts. Those links can be found on the district website.”

The concerts are scheduled for Monday, December 21st inside the Knoxville Performing Arts Center. Hear more about the Knoxville High School Music Department on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
