The Knoxville City Council approved City Manager Aaron Adams’ resignation at its meeting Monday evening. Mayor Brian Hatch says there is no clear direction on how to proceed with a replacement, but the council will spend the time until the next meeting to decide what will happen.

“The next step will be at our next meeting. There will be discussion as to an interim process. Do we appoint someone to an interim position? Then more discussion moving forward on a long-term scale, like what is council looking for? We have a lot of things on our plate. Aaron did a wonderful job for us, he did a lot for the community, so we’ll have big shoes to fill.”

Along with discussing the possibility of an interim city manager, Hatch says the council will also discuss hiring internally or seeking outside applicants. The next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 21st.
