The Pella Christian basketball teams each may see their toughest tests of the season to date with Indianola coming to town for a conference twin bill this evening on Eagle Lane.

The No. 15 in Class 5A Indianola girls are the defending Little Hawkeye champions who stand at 3-1 and feature a large group of returning athletes and one intriguing newcomer — 6-1 freshman Kendall McDaniel, who had an impressive league debut last week against Pella, with 19 points and 10 rebounds against the Lady Dutch. Eagles Head Coach Brad Engbers says the addition of a post adds to the already dangerous group of guards on the Indians roster, and could be a matchup to watch with two-time All-Conference Eagles’ post Allison Van Gorp.

In the nightcap, an Indianola boys team hungry for a win after back-to-back close losses to Pella and Council Bluffs Lincoln takes on a Pella Christian team finding its first win in blowout fashion over PCM Monday. The guard heavy Indians are paced by their starting five, who are averaging 61 of the team’s 63 points per game, led by explosive sophomore Drew Kingery.

The Eagles will try to answer with their mix of size and athleticism, and are aiming to take a big step up after a disappointing loss to Norwalk to start league play last week.

Coverage from Eagle Lane begins at 5:45 p.m. on 94.3 KNIA and the KRLS2 stream, with the radio call paired with video on the Pella Christian High School YouTube channel.
