A 27th death due to COVID-19 was reported in Marion County to the State of Iowa Coronavirus Database Thursday. There are 27 total fatalities, 22 of which have been directly attributed to the virus and five others where it was a contributing cause, according to a new method of tracking observed by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

There have been 96 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported this week, including 31 on Thursday, which brings the total to 2,253. Marion County Public Health considered 2,079 total residents to have recovered in their most recent weekly update issued Monday. There are 10 residents currently hospitalized with the virus.
