The Indianola School Board met in regular session Monday evening. The board continued a discussion on the Return to Learn Plan, and denied a proposed motion to continue the current schedule and plan for the district to remain through the third quarter of the second semester for elementary schools, which was denied via a 2-5 vote with Ken Bresnan and Carolyn Langenwalter voting in favor.

A motion was then put forward to return all elementary school students to return to a full-schedule, in-person learning for the second semester, which was tabled by the board to further explore the hiring of a special education teacher to serve those students who would receiving a virtual education, of which previously there were no applicants. The board agreed to schedule a special meeting Thursday at 5:30pm to further discuss the issue.

The board also tabled a discussion on a calendar change for the second semester regarding a teacher work day in February, approved handbook and curriculum change requests, and held a discussion about elementary school Chromebooks. The board also heard reports from the curriculum, human resources, facilities, and policy committees.
