The Indianola School Board will meet in special session Thursday evening, after tabling a discussion on returning elementary school students to a full in-person schedule at their meeting on Monday. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the board discussed some of the problems the district has faced with bringing those students back to a full schedule is staffing for special education students who would still be learning virtually.
“Right now with the shortened day special education teachers still have time during the day to attend to those students, if we bring students back full time on site and expand those minutes of specially designed instruction for students on site, then we are not sure how we will be able to connect with our remote learners. That’s where personnel comes in and hopefully have the ability to hire some additional help with that.”
The board will meet in special session tomorrow at 5:30pm
