A trio of three seniors is trying to push the Pella girls basketball team to heights they haven’t seen since the spring of 2017.
Seniors Madison Naig, Faith Diers, and Annika Peterson are all multiple year starters with their eyes on getting the Lady Dutch back to the state tournament after several close calls over the past few seasons.
The trio grew up playing basketball together, and say that chemistry allows them to have success on the court and create a fun environment for their underclass athletes.
“I think our first tournament was in Eddyville when we were in 4th grade and I remember watching movies with these girls in the hallways waiting for our games to start,” Peterson says. “It’s been a lot and we have a really good relationship. And with the sophomores and juniors and all of the underclassmen — we love them and have a great chemistry with them, and want to set them up as best as we can as leaders and teammates.”
The three Pella seniors were featured on the KNIA/KRLS Radio Sports Page this past Wednesday (Full Interview):
It’s been an uneven start to the new season for the Pella girls basketball team, as they sit at 3-3 overall — with an average score margin of loss at just over five points in those contests. The Lady Dutch look to rebound on the road Friday at Newton. That girls-boys doubleheader can be heard on the KRLS2 stream.
