The Indianola Police Department issued 62 tickets for violating the Indianola snow ordinance during the winter weather event last weekend, ticketing cars parked on city streets when plows are attempting to clear snow. City of Indianola Public Works Director Akhilesh “AP” Pal tells KNIA News he wants to remind residents that parking in city streets can significantly slow the snow plowing operations.

“Everytime when we get our first snow, we all learn from our mistakes, staff and residents. There were a lot more cars on the street even after the snow ordinance was in effect. It slows down our response to snow removal, so I would certainly request our residents make sure they are not restricting the flow of traffic, so that will help us with the snow removal operations.”

AP also said he requests Indianola residents clear the snow on the sidewalks as fast as conveniently possible to help pedestrians travel. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
