Knoxville Schools Administration has decided to continue allowing only two spectators per participant in school activities. This decision comes in light of Governor Reynolds’ announcement Wednesday that her public health proclamation would be adjusted to allow the entire household of each participant to attend. Activities Director Ryan Paulsen says this decision is about maintaining consistency, and that they’ll revisit the decision after the new year.
“We’re just going to remain at two spectators per participant for the time being. It gives us time to process the governor’s latest proclamation, see if there’s any additional guidance that comes from the state associations. It’s kind of a quick turnaround, so just for simplicity’s sake, we’re going to stay at two per for our events through the end of December, which is effectively Tuesday, that’s our last event before Christmas break.”
Other conferences in the area have adopted similar guidelines through the end of the month, including the Little Hawkeye and West Central Conferences. The final events of 2020 at Knoxville that will fall under these guidelines include Monday’s band and choir winter concerts.
