Those dreaming of a White Christmas are likely out of luck this year, with warmer than average weather expected into the holiday next week.
According to the State of Iowa Climatologist Justin Glisan, there is nearly a 50-50 chance annually of at least one inch of snow on the ground on Christmas Day. However, Glisan says any snow left on the ground will melt by then, despite a possible cool down following soon after.
The last time Marion and Warren Counties celebrated a White Christmas was in 2013, according to the National Weather Service.
Daytime highs will fluctuate over the next several days in the 30s over the weekend and into the 40s by early next week, however, much colder air comes in on Christmas Eve. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
