The Knoxville School Board awarded a precast bid package to MPC Enterprises at its meeting Monday evening totaling $1,353,600. Superintendent Cassi Pearson explains that precast is a building material that will be used for the walls in the new middle school.
“We have precast walls in our auditorium, and a great option instead of masonry brick. It’s a lot less time consuming, and from a financial standpoint, serves the purpose very well. We were excited that those concrete walls came in under budget. That’s a great place to start a project. We were also able to find a company that will fit our timeline. Those walls are anticipated to be formed up and sent on a semi, and arriving here by the middle of May.”
Groundbreaking on the building will begin in March, with the beginning stages of building construction beginning in May. Find more information about this package here.
