Six additional deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in Marion County Sunday to the State of Iowa Database. There are now 40 fatalities locally since the beginning of the outbreak, 35 of which were a direct cause of the virus. Twenty of those individuals died in the month of December.

Over the past week, 196 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported. In the most recent update, Marion County Public Health considered 2224 individuals to have recovered.

There are seven residents currently hospitalized with the virus.
