indianola-3

Over the last several years, a staple of the Indianola girls basketball teams has been fast paced play and hitting outside shots. To start the 2020-21 season however, there has been a concerted effort to get the ball inside to post players and have the offense run inside-out rather than focusing solely on three-point shots. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports the emergence of some talented post players has allowed the team to be much more versatile.

“Looking at what Kendall McDaniel brings to our team, looking at how Kinsey Johnston has played over the last two weeks, we have post players that we maybe haven’t been able to do for the last couple years. So getting the ball inside especially against the zone, and moving then as well not just staying set expecting them to kick it out or score, but getting it inside then moving without the basketball is something that we are going to continue to get better at.”

The Indians are 6-1 on the season and on a 6-game winning streak. They will next hit the court in 2021, hosting Lewis Central on Saturday, January 2nd.
