The PCM Mustangs came up empty in their conference doubleheader Tuesday as they both were routed at Roland-Story. The girls were more than doubled up by the Norsemen, 60-27, whereas the boys fell 62-44, as heard live on the KRLS3 stream.

After picking up win #1 against Newton Monday, PCM struggled mightily to put the ball in the hole as they put up a total of just eight points in the entire second half against the Norsemen. The Mustangs’ top scorer was Emma George, who scored seven points, including four in the second half. Celeste Wagaman was second in scoring with six points, as she hit two three-pointers. PCM couldn’t stop Roland-Story Forward Reagan Barkema, who scored a season-high 22. Coach Jeff Lindsay tells KRLS Sports that it was very difficult trying to stop the Norsemen’s top scorer. Coach Lorenson tells KNIA Sports that he was impressed with Vandelune’s performance.

The PCM boys’ four-game winning streak came to an end as they came out flat in the second half, scoring just 18 points. The Mustangs were down by five at the break, matching Roland-Story blow for blow. Carson Vandelune led the team in scoring, as he poured in 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Andrew Mitchell, who scored 34 at East Marshall, only managed to put 12 points on the scoreboard for the 4-5 Mustangs.

Both PCM teams are now off for the holiday break. The girls will return to action on January 8th for a conference matchup with South Hamilton, with the game tipping off at 6:00 PM. The boys will be back January 4th for a non-conference matchup with Earlham, tipping off at 7:30 PM.
