Travel may be difficult today with significant weather changes on the way. A strong cold front will be pushing through the state, and strong winds should be pushing through south central Iowa by midday. Light precipitation may come with the wind, which may cause slick roads. According to the National Weather Service, light snow is also expected over the northwest half of the state. Much colder air is on the horizon, with temperatures dropping into the single digits by Thursday morning and wind chill values below zero expected on Christmas Eve.
