The PCM Mustangs girls basketball team is off to a shaky 1-10 start, including being winless in conference play, but there is more to it than just getting outplayed.

They opened the season with a one point loss to Chariton and had one defeat come in overtime a few weeks later. They have also been in plenty of games in the third quarter or later.

If some errors and miscues can get cleaned up, the ladies can surely finish out the year with a smile on their faces.

Head Coach Jeff Lindsay describes what has plagued his team in the first month of the season.

“It’s just ball security and it’s a team thing. It’s not any one person or two. It’s everybody in general and there are some nights where we do a really good job of it and other nights we don’t look as good doing it. We just have to become more consistent with it, but consistency comes with confidence and continuing to understand where we’re supposed to go when the ball is in certain spots. Those are some things that we will have to continue to hammer on moving forward so it becomes a reaction and not a thought process.”

The Mustangs will be back in action on January 8th at home against South Hamilton. Tune into live coverage of the double header on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com.
