The Knoxville Police Department has had an eventful 2020. From dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic to fundraising for a canine, a lot of things took place. Among the personnel movements was Former Chief Dan Losada’s retirement, which opened the door to Aaron Fuller to be named Chief. Fuller reflects on what it meant to him to become Chief of Police.
“I remember when I was first hired by Chief Losada, he asked what my ultimate goal in law enforcement was. I was bright-eyed and a young patrolman, and I said ‘I have no idea,’ and he said, ‘Well, what about being a chief someday?’ That always kind of stuck with me. Throughout my career as I progressed through the ranks and did some different things, it started to become more real. When I had the opportunity to apply for the position, go through the process, and ultimately, for lack of better words, beat out my competitors, I was very proud. Not only of myself, but also to be the leader of the department, and also, just happy that it was here in Knoxville.”
Fuller assumed the position in May upon Losada’s retirement. Hear a full 2020 Year in Review with Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
