A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Marion and Warren Counties by the National Weather Service and most of central Iowa, starting Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Heavy mixed precipitation is expected to start late Tuesday morning, likely beginning as snow. Between 4 to 8 inches is expected throughout south central Iowa. The precipitation will then most likely switch to sleet or freezing rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, causing additional worsening of travel conditions across most of the state. A light glaze of ice is in the forecast for most of Iowa heading into Wednesday.
