State and county plows will be hard at work through Wednesday morning to keep roads as safe as possible during this winter storm and other snow and ice events each winter.

Tina Greenfield is Road Winter Information Systems Coordinator for the Iowa DOT, and says her role is to ensure road crews are ready to react to any winter weather event, including those with plenty of notice and those that happen unexpectedly.

Greenfield says they have a weather station near Pella and scattered along highways throughout the state that measure surface temperature and provide updated road conditions through their Weatherview service.
