Many schools and their athletic programs have had issues this year when it comes to schedules. This can be games getting unexpectedly postponed or canceled. For PCM wrestling, they haven’t had to take anything off the schedule; they’ve done nothing but add to it.
The plan for the program was to add more events to their schedule whenever time would allow and if they could find schools to grapple with. The month of December was originally scheduled to have just one event at home. The Mustangs have now competed in three events in Monroe, which is half of their schedule.
PCM has fared better in these meets, likely due to a level of comfort and familiarity that home provides the boys. Head Coach Jeff Nicholson details what benefits home field advantage provides his team.
“Well we do like wrestling at home. We’ve got an atmosphere there that is unlike many. We have spotlights and dim the lights. Got some walk out music that kids really get excited for. So I don’t think that hurts at all.”
PCM will be back in action on January 5th at none other than their home mats against Newton and Saydel. Three of their seven meets in January will be in Monroe.
